#AVADON THE BLACK FORTRESS REVIEW SOFTWARE#Info: Avadon: The Black Fortress was developed by Spiderweb Software and released in 2011. The map on the loading screen sets the visual high point of the game. #AVADON THE BLACK FORTRESS REVIEW ANDROID#If an Android tablet is the only device you own and if you never had contact with a genre called ‘fantasy’, be it in a movie, a novel or a video-game, and if you’re in a place where it’s okay for you to maybe never have sex with anyone besides yourself, Avadon: The Black Fortress might be the game for you. I even have trouble writing these few words. Avadon: The Black Fortess is a turn-based strategy computer RPG from Spiderweb Software, the creators of - among other things - the Avernum and Geneforge franchises. There’s just nothing that make me want to go on. Avadon: The Black Fortress(PC) by mento on July 03, 2012. There isn’t any interesting skill or character development. There’s no tactical challenge in the very simplified magic and turn-based combat system. The writing is okay, but as original as the average D&D-session you had as a teenager at that moment in time when you thought you’d somehow come to terms with the fact, that you’d stay a virgin forever. It’s not that it felt like a bad game to me – I just found it to be so very uninteresting. I remembered that I had played the game before – on an Android tablet, which explains why this still looks outdated, but is a much more simplified and dumbed down experience to the usual Spiderweb Software RPG shenanigans. I expected Avadon: The Black Fortress to be just another Spiderweb Software game, meaning it’s a hardcore, old school RPG with an even more old school (aka ‘cheap and outdated’) presentation, but an overall solid experience. ![]() #AVADON THE BLACK FORTRESS REVIEW PROFESSIONAL#Unfortunately I didn’t feel like writing about it at the time and – being the professional writer that I am – apparently didn’t take any notes. I played Avadon: The Black Fortress a few weeks ago for about two hours. ![]() Players can revisit the fascinating world of Avadon when Avadon 2: The Corruption is released in the fall of 2013, for Windows, Mac, and iPad platforms.Avadon: The Black Fortress is an RPG with an inventory. The handful of released screenshots so far show that Spiderweb Software are keeping up with that barebones minimalist design that worked so well in the first game, and the top-down view strangely reminds me of a stripped-down version of The Sims (but you know, with monsters and dungeons and all that jazz). #AVADON THE BLACK FORTRESS REVIEW SERIES#You won’t need to have played the first game in the series to enjoy Avadon 2, as the simple turn-based RPG gameplay is easily accessible to anyone. It’s a really nice concept for a story-driven RPG, and I’m sure it will lead to some interesting player morality choices the further you progress.Īvadon 2 will feature five different character classes dozens of side quests, dungeons, and secrets and even multiple endings, depending on which side you choose to stay loyal to! The first Avadon game boasted an impressive 25-30 hour experience, and Avadon 2 looks to be just as huge an adventure with tons of replay value. But when the walls of Avadon are broken down and everything falls into chaos, you’ll have the option of fending off the intruders and restoring your realm, or switching over to the dark side and joining in on their reign of terror. In the sequel, you play as an agent of Avadon, The Black Fortress, who must protect their land from outside threats like monsters, titans, and barbarians. Developer Spiderweb Software has held true to their promise that Avadon would be the first in a saga of games, and now we have Avadon 2: The Corruption to look forward to. We saw a lot of things we liked when we reviewed the indie RPG Avadon: The Black Fortress back in 2011, and so any follow-up to that retro dungeon-crawling goodness is a welcomed announcement to us here at Gamezebo. ![]()
